Isaiah Wilkins came back to the Virginia bench out of breath, being subbed out after what can only be called a heroic minute and a half. He was met with a standing ovation from the walk-on portion of the bench, clearly in a light-hearted mood as the Cavaliers dominated.

After getting called for a blocking foul, Wilkins spent the next Vanderbilt possession blocking three shots, the second of which was ferocious — coming from behind to swat it away — and the third not much different.

“He’s one of the best team help defenders that I’ve ever coached, and I’ve coached some great ones,” head coach Tony Bennett said. “He ignites our defense. He covers up for so many guys. If a guy is out of place, he’s filling in the gap for them. He’s just in two places at once.”
