Cochrane’s Bill Gibbons is provincial champion again in billiards (8-ball), after he captured gold at the Alberta 55 Plus games. The Summer Games for Alberta took place this past summer in Calgary with winners getting the opportunity to compete at the 2018 Canada 55 Plus Games in their respective sports, which will take place in St. John, New Brunswick.

Gibbons beat out silver medalist Eric Fayant of Edmonton to capture the gold in the Alberta games. Wayne Irvine from Lethbridge finished third.

Gibbons won the Alberta 55 Plus Games in 2015 and finished third at the Canada Games in Ontario in 2016. He is looking for another chance to win another gold medal at the highest level. He won at the Canada Games back in 2014.
