As Katie Lou Samuelson and Napheesa Collier resume their college careers this fall, the UConn juniors have some added perspective as players.

Samuelson and Collier participated in the USA Basketball women’s national team training camp two weeks ago in California. They were among 20 players in camp and just two of five college players invited to compete.

The camp was the first run by new Olympic coach Dawn Staley, and it served as an opportunity to identify and prepare players for the 2018 World Cup team, along with the 2020 Olympic squad.

Collier and Samuelson, who have grown up in the USA Basketball program, used the experience to study the work habits of older players such as Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi.
